Helmut Kruger is a character who makes a one-time appearance in the Season 3 episode titled "Fight Like a Dove".
Biography[]
Helmut Kruger was formerly a German colonel and ran an extermination squad at Dachau. After the war, he took on the name of Hans Daubert and became a notorious arms trader who was said to supply half the third world with weapons. He could, it was claimed, start a war and then supply both sides with the arms to fight it. Harry Lebow, a well-known Nazi hunter tracked him down in Paris but Kruger stabbed and killed him in the street. Thereafter, Lebow's daughter, Sarah Lebow persuaded Hawke and Dominic to use Airwolf to penetrate Kruger's heavily fortified hacienda in Paraguay to capture him and bring him to trial.
Towards the end of the episode, when Kruger knew Airwolf was on the way, he declined to run away but continued to play the piano, calmly awaiting his reckoning. Perhaps he was overconfident in the capability of the Thor missiles he had to defend his fortress, or perhaps he knew that fate would one day catch up with him. Sarah Lebow caught him alone in the end. She wanted to kill him to avenge her father but Hawke persuaded her to desist. Kruger was thus captured and sent for trial.
