Ivan Rivera is a character who makes a one-time appearance in the Season 1 episode titled "Mad Over Miami".
Biography[]
Ivan Rivera is a Cuban dissident who lives in the Florida Keys. He raised two million dollars to secure the freedom of two Cuban political prisoners, Ramon Collarzo, a prominent writer and Ivan's son, and Father Gomez. However Ivan could only collect one million through contributions from the emigre Cuban community. To reach his target, he had to borrow another million from Sanchez, a right wing counter revolutionary who ran a private army based on a small island among the Florida keys.
Rivera was not to know that Sanchez would doublecross the ransom operation and hijack the money for himself, leaving the prisoners stranded.
